Ignacio “Nacho” Martinez has spent more than two decades building, troubleshooting and explaining networks: enterprise infrastructure, carrier circuits, and now the high-density fabrics inside AI data centers. With his employer caught up in that buildout, much of his working life is spent within arm’s reach of a patch panel.
He is the person colleagues call when the dashboards look fine but nothing works. That means deep protocol knowledge, a methodical approach to troubleshooting, and firm opinions about labeling cables. His certifications span the major networking vendors and a few specialist platforms he is happy to explain if you have an hour.
His posts here come from that work: telecom and networking as it behaves on the wire rather than on the slide. He still has a few words for a certain telco that played an unreachable-number announcement without sending the proper signaling on the D channel. Away from the network he restores vintage audio equipment, cooks for friends, and runs a home lab that occasionally qualifies as a household infrastructure dispute.
